TA49 conversion

From what I have been reading, a TA49 can be made from a factory 86/87 GN turbo. Is that accurate? If so, is it something a mechanically inclined person can so themselves? If anyone has a reliable machine shop that could do the job in nothern IL, I would appreciate the contact info. Thanks

too much for the DIY guy
TA49 has larger turbine and compressor wheels
besides needing the wheels the exhaust housing , backer and cold side housing need to be machined
and then the center section needs to be rebuilt
bison or kirban could sell you a ta49
