Sy/Ty vs GN differences?

Just wondering what the main differences are between the sy/ty an the GN? I know the sy/tys have a 4.3 litre v6 but is it based on the 3.8 or is it a whole different motor? and do they share any parts. Just got thinking about that today for some reason.

The 3.8 Buick V-6 is based off a Buick 350 V-8, but with 2 less cylinders.

The 4.3 Chevy V-6 is based off a SBC V-8, but with 2 less cylinders.

Neither share engine parts.
