STEP BY STEP ENGINE REBUILD!

Prices on the cranks will vary. Stocker? Aftermarket? Take a look at parts for sale section, or post what you want in Parts wanted section--after you get in there and find out what you really need.

That's personal preference. If you have to buy a crank and you're already going to build the engine... why not go ahead and go stroker?

I'd probably verify your crank is bad first though.

Assess the engine first to determine what will need replacing. Decide what your budget is then double that.

Is the engine out yet? As much end play as you have, I'd suspect that the damper bolt is loose. If you truly have 1/4 inch of play, then the crank & block are junk.

What takes you guys so long to work on these things?

They're some of the easiest engines to pull. You can leave just about everything on them. Just unbolt and go!

Well, it does help having a nice shop to work in.;)

How much will a crank cost me are there better cranks i am not building a race car just a nice street car i can bring my family in and sometimes drag race it low 11 would be enough for me!

What would you sugest! Are the cranks from any 3.8 the same?!

The stock crank and rods with forged pistons will go a long way and fit your build requirements. A good stock standard turbo crank will bring 300-400, One that has been cut 10/10, 200-300.

The cranks from a 3.8 NA motor are different than the turbo and 4.1 cranks. For your goals, a new NA crank would be fine, but no one is ever satisfied with there goals and always want more than they originally thought. So I would look for a good turbo crank if needed.

Another option is a steel crank, rods and piston kit. Much more money to install, but it will be all new parts.

Either you are a dam good mechanic and good with your hands ;), or you've done work to your lc2 more than you can count on one hand and are a pro at removing and installing the motor :p

Eric is very skilled mechanic. He did a nice job installing my HR control arms and bar.
