Reman maf has goo inside???

its intended purpose was to keep water out of the circuit board-------

Its referred to casually in the industry as "elephant snot". It protects the circuitry, but also is stable over an incredibly wide temperature range, so your MAF doesn't fail in the Sahara or the Antarctic.

but its not supposed to overflow into the airpath.

What I dont understand is why pay $170 + core for a 'junk reman' when you can have reliability for $9 more with the 3.5 modern MAFs.
I know its an extra $199. for the translator but its only what the ECM/chip uses to determine EVERYTHING to run properly.
FMICs and cold air intakes, 3 in SS exhaust should come 2nd or 3rd prority to this.
