MAF Translator issues

I am working on a friends 85 GN and just wondering why his looks like the previous owner hacked the harness to directly wire the MAF translator in? Is this the proper way to do it? Can someone post pics of a regular set-up for me? I am wanting to change the set-up back to normal

Ok, I'm not sure of the colors on an 85, but on an 86/87 the MAF plug is:

A - +12v - Pink/Black

B - MAF Signal - Gray/Red

C - Ground - Black/White

A= pink
B= grey/red stripe
C= Black/white stripe
