:( finally my car showed up today, took it out for a ride trans is shifting real hard even on easy take off. then when i let off it feels like it is lost and hunting for the right gear,kindda like a stick car in high gear and going really slow it jerks as it slows down, its a totally stock 87 gn 45k miles any help would be appreciated. oh yea sorry bout the spelling not my stong suit! thanks in advance for your time. David
 
Sounds like a TCC/TorqueConverterClutch Solenoid problem. Solenoid sticking, lockup clutch.
 
agree with SSedan64 sound like a TCC solenoid locking up. Have someone scan the TCC should be able to disconnect the solenoid ,should confirm problem.Good Luck
 
if that is the problem, what will i need to do to fix it, is this a big buck fix or ?

It's a cheap item. Solenoid is located inside trans pan in bottom of pump. The universal solenoids are cheaper than the OEM GM ones. Here's a few, but should be able to get at part stores & Vendors on this site also>

GM or AC/Delco PN for the TCC solonoid for a 87 GN with Trans code BR-F. It is a 8639900
