That's such a lie. I live in Staten Island, which is part of NYC, and I'm more right-wing than any redneck can ever hope to be. We need to carpet bomb these terrorist countries and then leave them for dead. No nation building after we destroy them. No worrying about innocent civilians. We don't need the stinking U.N.'s approval or anyone elses. Bush is a little too liberal for my tastes, but hey, he's doing a great job, much better than Clinton or Gore could have done.

By the way, what do you suggest the US do?

Black Death, no flames from me...you have a right to think/feel how you do and I think you have some legitimate fears BUT-

The threat will NOT go away, it has to be removed.
Doing nothing will only allow the THREAT to become an ACTION (like the 9/11 attack). In order for you (and all of us) to feel safe something drastic has to be done. There is NO alternative. It's called "self defense". Do you want your fears to become reality?

Believe me, I think we all wish there was an alternative. We have tried to be diplomatic, it is not working. Other measures are needed and needed NOW. There is NO alternative. Every second that we hesitate is one more second for Saddam, Osama and all other terrorist to get one step closer to their goal (destroying our country/way of life). Do you honestly think that we will be safe if we just let things alone? If the "let it alone" theory works, why did 9/11 happen?

Now I personally DO NOT think the Iraqi people deserve this. They have already been decimated enough...SADDAM however, needs to not only be removed from power but physically destroyed and removed from this earth (including his sons...if you think Saddam is bad, you ain't seem nothing yet!). BUT - We are giving the Iraqi people fair warning that we are coming and what is going to happen. If they hang around, that's their choice.

Remember Hitler? He was threatening the world right? (generalizing here...) Should Diplomacy have been used instead of force? Why is it different now? If Saddam treats his OWN PEOPLE/neighbors the way he does, how do you think he will treat the rest of the world (us).

Here is the VERY SAD bottom line:
The world can not get along - it has never gotten along and it will NEVER get along...
There's got to be a BULLY on the block.

Guys, liberals do not have the facts to back up their beliefs. They are brainwashed by socialists and anti-capitalists like Clinton. These people take logic and reason and throw it out the window. But, he supported it, probably even helped finance it. The ordeal isn't just about 9/11, there is whole side of things that everyone seems to be ignoring when it comes to the Gulf. Open your EYES and look at the big picture.

One thing that I'll never understand:
When the sh*t hits the fan EVERYONE looks to the US to be the cleanup crew and we always oblige. When we ask for support in return, you hear nothing but crickets (from most). I vote we close our borders, bring all the troops home and let the world around us go to hell...and it would, I promise you that.

I am in industrial sales and I can tell you now that war is not going to do my pocketbook any good. I do have a customer that makes the bags for MRE's and he is doing well, but not enough to cover the rest of my customers.

You know, someone has to be #1. I would prefer that we fill that position. Do you think Canada could handle that position, or would you prefer Russia, France or even Germany be the big guy. Just imagine what that would be like.

Prevention is right. They've been pumping people into our country for years. They hit us when we aren't at war, killing thousands of innocents---intentionally. That was the plan. It's simple. The al Qaeda are supported by Saddam. They are his way of striking at the world without having to take responsibility, and it accomplishes the goals of the militant Muslims (not all Muslims) at the same time. It's a 4th grade bully tactic. Hit, run, deny, lie, and BS to try to avoid consequences, or at least put them off until you're more prepared.
War will happen regardless of what Bush and the UN decides now. The debate time is exactly the stall tactic that Saddam has in mind, he doesn't care who supports what. Time is all he wants. The difference is if we take it to them before they take it to us. Minimize the losses, make this as controlled a fight as possible. If we wait, this will blow up in our faces--badly--at a later time. There will be a lot less loss of life if we do this now than let them have a chance to unleash 10 WTC's at the same time later. Do you want to fight in NYC or over there? That's the choice. Do you want 100's or maybe 1000's to die, or tens or hundreds of thousands?

Stop thinking small and short sighted. Nobody *wants* war and loss of life, but it's coming regardless. Play it in their yard, not ours, as much as possible. Minimize the losses and get our men and women back home to their families as soon as possible.

I'm gonna say this, propoganda is used on both sides of the table and the Republicans are not this all do good, honest group of guys you have been talking about. You don't become president or a high ranking politician being honest, it just doesn't work that way. If you believe other wise you are blind. On to the war, it is going to happen! I fully support our troops and wish them the best. But I would like to see some solid proof(not just 1441 and how we are denouncing the UN yet it is a UN treaty we're going to war over). When the outcome is military action and will be the loss of U.S. lives I don't think that "ifs and buts" are enough to go to war over. We have the greatest intelligence in the world yet we can not find all of these WMD. Yes they may be hidden in the desert but what about all the evidence that was going to be shown to convince us all? It was nothing special, a couple of buildings and trucks. Missiles that travel 90 miles out of range are not WMD. I also do not believe that left over mustard gas is a reason to go to war, being that it has been around for almost 100 years and even some of the poorest militarys in the world have it. Terrorism is not a country you can invade and win the war, it is a long drawn out war of intelligence. What Bush has done in Afganistan is great, and he has handled it well. But as stated above, Saddam did not do 9/11, and there is no official proof of a link between AlQueda and Iraq exept for one news article in the Newyorktimes that even the CIA denounced. They do have links to other terrorist that like the palistinians, but they did not blow up the WTC either. I just think that when War is the only option you should give the people more reason and facts to back up your reasoning instead of trying to make people feel guilty by saying "If your against war the you must have forgotten 9/11" This is not true they are separate things. I know that France ,Russia and China have other agendas with the situation and despite that, I believe that we should try to get there approval even if it postpones the attack. The loss of China and Russia as allies may do a lot of harm in the future, and the way things are shaping up with North Korea , we're going to need them as allies and definatly want to keep China on our side. I hope this comes off how it was supposed to I am a sceptic that thinks saddam needs to be taken care of but also does not want to burn bridges and hurt our country even worse in the process. I don't think that Killing Saddam will prevent anymore terrorist attacks. In fact it may increase them. Any Muslim who is on the fence about whether to act out there hate on America may cross the fence if we go in there. Saddam being out of power may temporarily slow some organizations if they are linked but there are many more countries that they can get money and weopons from including Saudi Arabia, N.Korea, Iran, and many others. One question i have not been able to get answered is why did Bush completely stop the Peace talks between Israel and the Palistinians? That was one foreign affair that I thought was slowly being solved by diplomacy. Sorry for the length
