How to remove 86 GN head rests for seat recover

Ok - got the seats ok of the car - now I cant figure out how to get the head rests out of the seat so i can put the covers on - TOtaly lost - have tried everything - so what is the trick????????????

take a hacksaw blade and slide it down the front of the head rest rod. Then push down on the headrest and pull up will pushing down on the blade. Sometimes it's quick and easy, sometimes it takes a little wiggling around. It'll come out...
