Getting ready to remove & replace my 87 gn engine.Any tips in or out would be appreciated.

take the hood off, much easier and more light to see everything. i just pull the alt,a/c and power steering and leave the turbo and headers on it

ive never removed the hood , just remove the strut support bracket and raise the hood up and reattach the support using the upper hole of the bracket in the lower hole

if leaving the trans in drop the crossover to clear the trans cooler lines ,

I leave my hood on as well. I leave all accessories on, turbo on, headers on, cross-over removed. I have done it way to many times already,I can now have the motor out of the car and on a stand in under 3 hours. First time was intimidating, head gaskets replaced in the car took about 24 hours with labeling and over-thinking it.

When installing the motor, I leave the headers and motor mounts off until it's bolted to the trans. Makes it easier to line the motor up on the trans. I leave the hood on and prop it up with a broom handle.
