ECU problem

Will changing the eprom without disconnecting the battery kill the ECU? I suspect it is in calpak mode as it idles very slow. Occasionally speeds up to normal idle. I suspect that the prom is not making connection in the ECU but other than buying a new ECU don't know how to fix it. Any ideas???????

I got a 85 ECM with the stock chips I will let go for 30.00 + shipping if that will fix your problems.

As long as the key was off - you should be alright. I have "hot-swapped" chips a few times.
