Recently i decided to redo my interior after removing dash i noticed the wiring harness had been pretty butchered up so i removed all of the nasty unraviling 30 year old tape, upon doing so i noticed a few pieces of duck tape on bundles of wires (the duck tape was under black tape )crimped together and leading to one 10 gauge wire (ign)or batt ,just curious to know was duck tape used on wiring harness from factory or is this something from a hack job someone did (previous owner)just curious to know if i need to start checking other wires for this being that it was old crumbling aprt dnt need any electric gremlins running around ..........

factory used black fabric duct tape on their crimp splices which are also soldered
even under the hood in the engine harness the grounds and powers are done that way

and ...
dont know why your wiring is just hanging there.. it should all be secured into the dashboard and should have stayed in the dash when pulled , so much easier that way

When i took the dash out the harness was still connected to dash and covered with the black duct tape which was unraveling due to being old i removed all black tape and thats when i found the crimp splices wrapped in gray duck tape which i thought was weird good to know that was from factory and not one of the previous owners doing some hack job since then i have cleaned up the harness and wrapped with fresh eletric tape thanks for the info.
