Dead computer?

Wanted to see if this happened to anyone else. My 87 TR is in garage ready to go to track only need to do is change to race chip. Changed chip using proper procedure, and when starting car check engine light blinks constantly and car runs like crap. Swap back chips, same problem. Change computers problem goes away. Is the computer basically toast?

Sounds like a prom error. I would play with the chip socket,check the pins on the prom . Sometimes you move the chip around or pull the prom out a little and it works. Laz
