My father who is 86 was in the Battle of Bulge and the Battle of Hernden Forest in WWII. He received the usual medals European Campaign, Purple Heart and a couple of other minor ones but they were stolen in 1948. My brother took two years to track down his paperwork and get them replaced. Well he was also supposed to receive the Bronze Star but never did on his discharge in 1946.

So today at 1:00 pm here in Gainesillve VFW a Senator will pin all those medals on him, five total. He had no idea they were coming.
This is gonna be fun!

Great News!

I'm sure it will be a proud moment for you all! Please post a pic of him from the ceremony.

Medal

That is so good to hear! I have an older gentleman who is a veteran of WWII that fought in the Battle of the Bulge also who comes in every year for propane for his grill. I havn't ever charged him for anything he ever needed. Propane, parts, regulators, nothing. Just to be able to survive something like that and be so humble about it knowing the horrors of what he must of experienced when he was 18-19 years old deserves our respect and undying gratitude. We can never repay these heroes enough. Unfortunetly I havn't seen him in awhile. I hope all is good with him. God bless all that have served!!!

Your Dad is a true hero and deserves all the thanks and respect our country can give as do all the members of our armed forces. My parents grew up in England during WW II and without the brave service of men like your Dad who knows what the outcome of the war would have been. Be sure to thank him for his service and post pictures when you can.

Great story.....I have such admiration and respect for that generation. Post some pics of the ceremony if you can.

WOW..... My uncle who passed away a few years back was in the Battle of the Bulge, he never spoke of his tours until a few years before his death. I have the ut most respect for the gentlemen that served in WWII. Please give you dad a hand shake and a thank you for me. Its always a pleasure to meet a WWII veteran.

They are called "The Greatest Generation". They earned that title. Would love to see pics of the day. Thanks for sharing.
