Hey guys, been awhile since I've posted. Anyway, does a TA-61 or TA-60 have exactly the same external size compressor housing as a stock turbo? If they both do, how do those two turbos differ? TIA.

The compressor of a TA60 and TA61 are identical. Both the wheels and the housing.

The 60 has the same turbine as the TE44/TA49 while the 61 has a bigger TO4B 69 trim wheel (the same exhaust wheel as the PTE53 and 54)

The 60 will spool better but the 61 will make more HP.

UNGN,
If they are the same, why is the compressor maps so different?

Thanks,
Jason

what mm on the ta60 wheel. i have a turbonetics 4 bolt cheata turbo that needs a new wheel, anyway i can go to a bigger wheel, its basically a t04b turbo from what i hear

BTW, Pureboost... to answer another of your questions: yes, the compressor housings are the same externally as a stock turbo! It is how they are machined internally and which combo of wheels they install that makes the difference.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies YGETV8 & UNGN. They were exactly what I needed to know. WFO, that link to the chart was great too. I must have overlooked it before.
