sadly, in the past, this has been a $$ source for the promoter.
I hate to see that Lee, I was really hoping to see your car there. I love drooling over it! I understand the heartache with issues in the past, that is the main reason I chose to work with Steve and try to get this back up to its previous years glory. I am not making excuses for Steve, wasn't there for any of the past issues, nor do I want to be part of them. I do however want to see a butt-ton of Buicks and other cars gathered together for this show. There are a few cars that are a must, and I consider yours one of them and hope you reconsider. I would even consider eating part of your fees, as I really want to see the X there.
I had hoped to get started on this show deal earlier, but there for a while I was getting prepared to head to Iraq for a while. Now that is semi-uncertain so I am trying to get this show back on track.
Steve said the awards would be in hand for last years awardees by end of March. I have the list of awardees, and who he orders them through. If something goes south, and the main issue is last years awards I will eat them as well. I will get my a$$ kicked by the wife, but I want this show to happen, and in a big way!!! A few of you have already expressed interest in the show, and even helping out. I will talk more with you guys later when we get a little more organized.
I am already working with some vendors and will post up what the vendors are putting forth for the show so everyone knows what we have, and what to look forward to.
As for this years plaques, if we have enough preregister, I will have the plaques/awards in hand for the show, to be given out at the show. This is something I told Steve we really need to do, not only to correct the previous years' issues, but most of us want to receive the award in hand right then, not wait until later to get it.
I am working with local car clubs and chapters and would love to see a row of Chevelles, row of Vettes, row of Vipers, etc, etc. If the clubs say they will have enough people, they get their own row. Also, if we had a gang of Vettes, I will have "Best Vette" and "2nd place Vette" or something similar to represent the "other guys".
I am really sorry the past years shows have dwindled and there were issues. I really believe in this, and really want it to happen, that is why I am helping Steve. He even said if things go smoothly over the next show or two, maybe he could take a step back and hand off most or all of the responsibility to someone else. I would be honored just to keep this alive.
All I can really say at this time, is give it one more shot this year. I will do my best to revive this thing, get some new blood into it, and get it to the level is deserves to be at!
