Anyone ever seen cam sensor cap like this?

Been trying to chase down somewhat of a no start/ start and die out problem. I pulled the cam sensor cap off to see if anything looked wrong and the inside of the sensor was covered in some sort of dust.

Sorry I missed your call last night.

It does look like pollen or saw dust. Very strange.

Give me a call today.

What does the inside of the cap look like?
Excessive end play on the shaft?

Looks like powdered corrosion (or zinc). The inside of my jetboats distributor cap like to do that too. Its explosion proof but it's still vented better than a cam sensor cap.

Get the dust out. Now if there was oil in their I would not remove. Our cars are design to oil the inside and out.

No play. Inside of the cap looks good after blowing the dust out.
