I know you must convert first to newer style regular lights but how and were can i find the parts. Also anyone done this and how did it come out??? let me know thanks

I was just thinking about this. Hope someone has the answer because I want to do the conversion.

For a true HID, I bet it costs $500-600 or more. Did someone just one the lottery ? ;)

My `80 Cutlass uses the SAME Sealed Beam Headlamps as your GN's.

The TRUE HID Conversion runs about 500-650 dollars, depending on who you buy it through.

Here is the Sylvania Xenarc x4656 Set-up:

Here are a few links:

They list it for just under $500

Here is the same kit for $550 from Advance Auto Parts, or Checker/Schucks/Kragen

Are you wanting the "blue" type lights? If so, those aren't true HID, they are the square housing with the blue bulbs. True HID is very expensive. For just the HID look (blue) you can get the Sylvania siverstars (drop in) or the 4X6 housing and swap in the bulbs you want. Either way, there is some rewiring to do (because of the higher current draw) and will run around $100.00+.

I'am not looking for that civic ricey look when you go to pepboys and pic up some blue bulbs. now that we have that resolved. what i am looking for is a conversion kit were you can use up to date bulbs like the new cars today. I saw once were there was a square light housing like what we have today but empty so you can install regular bulbs in the back. Don't have to install right away a hid kit but later on you can. And price wise I can get good deals on 8000k HID kits for like $375.

www.hids4less.com they tried a couple of different setups with different ballasts and stage 1 and 2 bulbs but they wouldnt stay lit. they did a seperate big guage power wire but it still didnt work for me. stage 2 (purple like bmw) low beams was gonna cost 700.

I converted my 86 to HID's years ago, and I have had HID's in GN Venom since 1995. If you need the parts to do the job, I have them on hand. The conversion involves adding the H4 style halogen headlamps, removing the H4 capsule and installing a special adapter and HID bulb into the housing. Then you add a pair of ballasts, a wiring harness upgrade, and away you go. There is nothing like the real thing, and with the H4's, your beam pattern is completely controlled and doesn't glare at the oncoming traffic.
I'm a serious believer...
