Wondering if they really work..they sell em at Home Depot, take a 20lb bottle...was getting eaten alive tonight out back!

I need one if they work. They used to spray for mosquitos until a bunch of liberals started claiming that the spray was making their pets sick, so they quit spraying. Now you cannot enjoy an evening outdoors without getting attacked by several dozen mosquitos. They are the spawn of satan if you ask me.

I haven't tried one or know anyone that has but man is there a BIG price range for them, either Lowes or HD has one for about 185 but the coleman is 499.00  take about major brand sticker shock....

They work ok.. depending on wind conditions. They use CO2 to attract the mosquitoes, that's the main thing that attracts them to us..

Not sure what your popane bill will be. :D

We carry them at my store....

I work at a small town ranch store in northern california...we carry them..."mosquito magnet" is the brand. there is two versions.....one for 499.00 and the other for 1299.00! I've personally sold one to a guy in the bay area..he couldnt find them down there apparently. I've heard some good things about them....but I dont think enough people have laid down that kind of money to really know.

The Mosquito Magnet sells three versions I think. The two that were mentioned and a $299 model. Tyhe wind conditions are correct as you have to stay in the plume of the C02 much like a Citronella candle but who wants to stay in a plume of smoke. The Coleman sold a bunch of their units then had a recall which brought them back. Insecticides can be very nasty. Depending on what chemical they were spraying it is quite likely it was making animals sick. It takes alot less of an exposure for a dog, let's say, to get sick than for a person to get sick. People in that area were being exposed to it and possibly getting sick but ddidn't put two and two together. Maybe when children are born with six fingers they'll link it back to the insecticide they used. Many pesticides (universal name for insecticides, rodenticides, mitacides, herbacides ect. ect.) are banned in this country because they cause mutations in the unborn. Liberals, well in a round-a-bout way they were doing more good than harm in this case if the stuff was bads for us. Drew

xlr8, when the West Nile virus starts showing up they will spray.

We have the large 'mesquito magnet' version and it works well. We live around a wooded/swampy area with tons of mesquitos, since having the machine on, I havnt seen one yet, but the little collection net is filling up with dead mesquitos:cool: The largest unit they offer covers an area up to 1 acre and propain tanks last 3 weeks of constant use. I give this product a thumbs up, although I have not seen the imposter brands in action:)

Geez, I did not even know people had responded, the emails are not being sent when people respond!!

I've heard that a 20lb tank does last 3-4 wks as someone did mention already. I was talking to a coworker and they mentioned a Cutter lawn spray you attach to your hose that you spray...lasts 3 wks or so and suppose to work really well. I would like to try the Mosquito Magnet, I may have to take a trip to home depot... Can't go outside much past 7pm..they are brutal!

Buy a screenhouse!

Actually this OLD HOUSE did a segment about these units about a week ago. They said wind can affect it & it can use a lot of propaine. Check the website for this old house maybe they have it on there.

I just spent a week in Chincoteague, Virginia. It's a relief to wake up to the mosquito plane buzzing over the house at 7 am. You know you will not get eaten alive by the local "Air Force" before dinner.:D

Ahh Asseteague...

I've spent MANY weeks on Asseteague Island. Been campin' there so many times, I think the rangers know me... (for good and bad). That place has to be the mosquito HEAVEN. RULE #1, before you get outta the car, put on the bug repellant or those bugs will siphon you alive. I figured they'd be sprayin down there with the west nile.

I'd be interested in fixes for the bug problem too. I know it's been rainin' a lot and there'll be a lot of mosquitoes, but I'm planning on going camping and stuff this summer as well as doin' a lot of work on the car.

Funny you mention that place. I've only stayed in Va. overnight once, as a kid on vacation. It was in Chincoteague and my one lasting memory are the mosquitoes. To this day I refuse to ever live in Va. because I'm convinced the state is infested with mosquitoes. And this coming from a Jersey boy where the Jersey state bird is the mosquito... :)

I have used mosquito beater and it worked well. Comes in a yellow can and you just spray it around like a porn star. We haven't had any mutations(sickness and what not) from it........yet

Excellent idea.. I'm in.. if the price is right.

Or I can continue on the pay-as-you-go Off! program.

I put a box fan blowing right at me, that helps, but the bastards always find a place to bite.
