87 Shelby Charger

That's nothin. My &%$$*^% Charger bleeds me so dry for time and money, I haven't even touched my Regal since I dragged it home.

dont tell me my car is gonna get done before yours:confused: i thought polzin was my only competition in "the longest car build ever?

I am actually going at it pretty hard right now. I'm hoping to have it painted for Car Craft next month. Cross your fingers!!!!!

I'm off this week. Since this week was still open I decided to change one of my weeks of vacation. I'm really working at it so I can get it to the body shop for color. I hope to have it ready by Thursday. I have found my color. I saw it on a new Toyota RAV4. It's called Black Forest Pearl and I won't be doing the 2tone with the black on bottom. It's such a nice color I think it's best to have the whole car in it and just the Charger 2.2 decals/stripes and black out the headlight/grille areas.

The passenger side is almost ready for paint. I'll give the hood its first shot of priimer in the morning. I had to drill the holes for the scoop and clean the underside up too. Sanding the underside of an old hood is always such a pain/tedious. So I tried a different approach. I did use a hand held sandblaster and blasted the framing of the hood being careful not to hit the skin because sandblasting likes to warp flat sheet metal. After that I sprayed a little rust converter where it was needed and it really didn't need much it was actually a pretty clean hood. Then I used some stone/chip guard and sprayed the underside. I think it turned out very nice and will be a durable finish for the color to adhere to. A couple small spots of glaze to hit in the morning on the fender as well. I gotta keep at it tomorrow and Friday or I know I won't make it for Car Craft.

I'm getting close, but now I'm held up after seeing the"repair" that was done to the left fender by someone. I knew it need some work but now I'm going to have to head to a boneyard about 2 hours from here for a better one. It's really beat and some bondo was a good 5/16" thick. At least the passenger side and the hood/scoop/roof, and front bumper cover are ready. The drivers quarter I finished up too this evening so now it's just the fender and the door to go, oh and the hatch too but that's about half done.

Spectate? You can help me get it put back together at the show, haha. It's not the first time I'll be installing trim/ door handles/lock cylinders/window seals at the show. I was doing the same thing the year I had my Lesabre Turbo Coupe painted. It makes the day go by pretty quick when you're working towards a goal of finishing the car at the last minute.

Okay a little teaser..........

Cool! I wonder if the 2.2 decal will fool many people when it doesnt sound like a 4 and it has a whine. :)

Almost finished, the inside is still dirty and need the seats redone. Hopefully this winter.
