Hey guys! Interested in selling my 8.5 axle, messed it up while trying to convert to disc brakes (good mechanic/terrible fabricator) haha. I ended up going with a 9” setup from Quick Performance. Anyway, is anyone interested in this? 99k with good posi differential, no abnormal wear on ring/pinion, good axles with arp wheel studs. Shot the spider gears right out of her so it needs setup again (long story, happy to share). Please let me know what you think it might be worth, thanks in advance! Mike - Navarre Fl 32566
Axle is certainly not scrapped.
Cut the ends off, weld on a set of Ford big brg ends.
Benefits include:
No more c clips.
Bigger brakes.
Set the OAL width to suit the application.
Well, I learned to measure twice and precisely. Probably should’ve used a punch as well. Instead I mocked up the wilwood backing plate and used it as a guide. Horrible idea! To make matters 100 times worse I had forgotten that the pin was removed from the diff, dropped her in drive and promptly ejected the spider gears. F***! Had a lot on my mind that day, learned a lot though lol
