When we pulled the windshield and rear glass it had a "sealant" like stuff on the weather striping.
Do you guys know what that product is called?
Btw I don't think it's seamsealer.
Thanks for your help

todays cars use urethane in a tube and the windshield masks it .in the older cars it is butyl and comes in a roll i would use 3/8th butyl not 5/16.you can use urethane but have to be careful or it will be seen .i have restored two cars did one with urethane wish i would have used butyle. you can see it in a few places squeezing out of the seam ,butyl wont do that but is harder to seal

These years use a rubber gasket that gets installed onto the glass then both get installed onto the car as a single unit.

When the glass was pulled out it had a gooey/sticky/soft-ish stuff and that was on the glass and around the outside of the rubber gasket (inside of the glass channel --under the chrome molding)
it was not butyl or urethane it looks more like a seamsealer that never hardened.

well i stand corrected sorry..... didnt realize it was a gasketed windshield in 63 .my 65 was not

thanks
i guess the extra stuff was added on for whatever reason.

The reason is it will leak if you don't add it.....I have seen may of restored vehicles that did not add it have water leak issues ...
