thinking of installing new thermostat,wondering if brand matters.And, any tipps of making project easy and painless . is there anything i should be aware of that would need special attention also, how can i check cooling fan to make sure it is working properly. it hasn't got hot in chicago area yet but do notice temp hitting 195 area not sure if this is normal or not,this is why i'm thinking of changing stat.thanks in advance you guy's hvave been great to have around.

Check the vendor list for the t-stat and "O" ring, make sure chip works with 160* t-stat, (Chip should turn the fan on @160*+/-).
Might be a good time to check/change the thermostat housing, upper hose.
Drain/change coolant.
Clean the bore in the intake for the new t-stat & "O" ring.
Use vasoline on the new "O" ring when installing.
Pretty easy job.
