when driving my car stays in first unless i really get on the gas then let off a bit. my speedo cable is not hooked up, it was damaged when i put it on a trailer, would that cause it to not shift right? im going to replace the cable and i was just curious if that would fix it. i bought it a new tci transmission and 3000 stall tc. also, i bought the car not running so i didnt really know what to expect. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cable will only affect speedo operation and timing along with lockup since it doesn't know the speed of the car. ECU will only see load values from engine as an input and not road speed. It will need to be fixed. May be the the cable is too tight and letting off the gas lowers the trans pressure enough to overcome governor pressure to shift. Make sure TV cable is set correctly. If the same, pressure check time.
