Thanks for the suggestions--I'll do some more tests tomorrow. Are there any numbers that I can use to be sure that I have the correct MAF?

Code 33 -- higher MAF reading than expected. It's supposed to be an Impala SS MAF. I have tried setting the 1st button to both "3" & "0". I unplugged the ECM after changing the setting. The results were the same.

I recently purchased a used Translator and a used MAF off from EBAY. I installed both last night and am getting a service engine light. TurboLink show that the MAF reading at idle is 11 to 12. I have the first three switches on the Translator set to on and the 4th is off. Any suggestions...

I have a TA-49 in the hotair housing from Limit Engineering and it was a direct bolt-on. You will need to port the elbow and the turbo to intake adapter.

Does anyone know if the fit would be the same on an '85--are the radiator dimensions the same? Also, how much power (amps) does this thing draw--would my stock alternator be adequate? I'd like to convert my hotair to an electric fan.

Does anyone have any experience with this vendor? I need a new hood insulator pad. How about the 3" downpipe? Does it fit? Can they deliver?

Any results from the Jay Carter variable timing chip? Has anyone else tried one of these chips on a hotair?

Thanks for the reply Slow_85. Will the '85 MAF work well enough with the 87 ECM for a meaningful test, or do I also need to switch the ECM back to the 85 unit (hate to switch too much at once when I'm trying to isolate a problem)?

About a month ago I converted my 85GN to 87 ECM and switched the MAF to a new Tomco unit from Postons. Haven't been able to get the car to idle and accelerate without surging since the switch. Turbolink shows that the O2 delta crosscounts drop to 0 at idle, and the 02 voltage drops to 70 mv...

I just picked up a replacement knock detector for my 85GN. Two dumb questions: Whats the simplest way to get at it? Do I have to remove the throttle-body and EGR plumbing? How does the electrical connector come off? I can just barely see and reach it. What's the trick here?:confused:
