    Another 9 second Turbo Buick

Rode along with a friend to the drag strip today. His 87 Regal clicked off it's first 9 second pass. He's been chasing 9's with it for a long time, so it was great to finally see that single digit ET. The car went 9.95 @ 134. The main mods are: RCG built 3.8L Champion Aluminum heads Extreme...

    10.2 @ 134 - video

I video'd a friend at the dragstrip last weekend making some low 10 second passes in his T-Type. He even let me drive it once, lol. It's not my car so I'm not 100% on the exact details of the build. It's an RCG built 3.8L, zero balance motor, champion aluminum heads, alky control, Precision...

Why do buicks run 110 LSA cams?

Most other turbo applications use a wider LSA. Why do buicks use 110 most of the time?

87 TR shuts off during WOT shift

I'm working on reviving an 87 TR that's been sitting for a few years. I've done the spring cleaning stuff, and have noticed that the engine shuts off during the 1-2 shift if I'm at WOT. Any tips are appreciated, thanks!

    Output shaft is floppy?

I'm doing an output shaft seal in an 87 TR, and I noticed once I got the seal out the output shaft just flops around. I was wondering that was normal or if there was a problem with the transmission?

Occasionally won't shift into third at WOT

I'm working on an 87 TR that occasionally won't shift into third gear at WOT. Any suggestions on where to look or what to swap to possibly correct this issue are appreciated. The car is pretty stock. Only mods are a home made adjustable waste gate rod, MAF pipe, gutted cat, and LT1 valve...

Is wikipedia right that only 1045 Limited TR's were made?

I saw on Wikipedia that the Limited TR were second only to the GNX in terms of rarity, with 1045 being made. Is that true? I have a dark blue Limited at my house right now, bench seat, column shift, twilight sentinel, with the blacked out option. It's kind of a neat car, but I never would...

87 TR, finally out of paint, pics inside

One of the latest projects, just wanted to post some pictures. It's an 87 Buick Regal with a turbocharged 3.8. The car was originally black, but it didn't have the black out option so all the trim was chrome, bumpers were chrome, etc... This is before: The car was weather checked...

Price check, 86 GN with 154K on it

I know price is a hugely broad question, but I was hoping to get an idea of what a nice GN with 154K on it is worth. The car runs and drives great, is mostly stock, AC is cold, and the interior is in good shape. The car has been repainted the factory black within the last year. All in all...

    Paint project, 87 TR

I didn't see a section for paint tech, so I thought I'd post some pictures of the current project in here. It's an 87 TR, going all black, black bumpers, etc... Kind of a WE4 / GN look alike. Not looking to make a clone or anything, just make a clean looking black TR. It's...

Anywhere to get the power logger software?

I'm working on an 87 Regal that has a power logger installed. However, the customer has lost the software. Anyone know if I can get the software without having to buy another power logger?

No oil pressure after rear main and timing chain, please advise

I am working on an 87 turbo Regal. I just did the rear main seal per the instructions from gnttype.org. After removing the pan, the pick up tube screen had some debris in it, so I removed it and washed in my parts washer. I replaced the gasket, and re-installed. I did the timing gears and...

Used powermaster set up with new accumlator ball

I just did a vacuum brake conversion on an 87 Turbo Buick and I have the stock power master stuff if anyone needs it. Awhile back the brake light came on and the power assist went away. I replaced the accumlator ball with a new one and everything worked great for about 80 miles. Then the...

'Brake' light comes on for a second when I first hit the brake pedal?

87 TR, the brake light in the dash has started to light up for a second when I first press the brake pedal. The car still has the original braking system with the electronis assist. My first thought is that the brake light coming on like this is an indicator that the electronic assist unit (I...

Idle problem driving me nuts, check out my PL log file please

I can't seem to get this idle problem straightened out on my Regal. It's an 87 with some light mods. I had been driving for about an hour, and I stopped to get gas. I filled up, and took off. 2 blocks after filling up the car developed a stumble at idle. It would bounce around, not want to...

Can an O2 sensor cause an off idle stumble?

Kind of got a strange one going on with the 87 TR. It has been running great for awhile now, and then last night... I had been driving for about an hour, and I stopped to get gas. I filled up, and took off. 2 blocks after filling up the car developed a stumble at idle. It would bounce...

    AFPR leaks, any ideas

I've had my new adjustable fuel pressure regulator on and off a dozen times now trying to get it to seal into the fuel rail. Sometimes the leak is a spray, sometimes it's a slow drip, but I can't seem to get it to seal. About every third time I swap it out the O-ring is torn. I have some...

Is there a fuel pump lead under the hood on TR's?

On other cars I've worked on there is usually a lead under the hood that if you put 12 volts to the fuel pump turns on. I noticed some leads under the hood of the turbo regal by the alternator that look like they might serve this function. Am I right, or is there another lead somewhere?
