    Under boost, loud pop!

One of the worst backfires I ever had was because of a loose cam sensor. At wide open throttle, it moved and caused a back fire that sounded like a shot gun. Dented the up pipe and cracked the paint of the hood

    car has no power

Cam sensor can make one run weak, backfire or keep from cranking (hints that it will catch but it never does). I have not had one cause rough idle though. Injector leaking down, mass air flow sensor or ignition issues are another story.

Is there anyone that can check injectors?

I saw mention of a MAF Translator and a 3" sensor. Make sure the Translator is set for the 3" sensor and not a 3.5" sensor. A 3" sensor with a 3.5" setting will cause the engine to run very rich. If this is the case, lower the boost and slowly raise it back up to a level that works best with...

    car has no power

Assuming engine started running smoothly after a minute or so, may have been nothing more than an injector leaking down. Once they start doing that, tend to have to replace to fix. Otherwise, it is strange for the engine to go from good to bad just by sitting overnight. Rule out simple stuff...

    Car won't crank

Assuming your wiring is in good shape and not altered, a failed crank sensor can keep one from cranking. When crank sensors fail, engine turns and turns with no indication that it is trying to start. If you hear spits or anything that sounds like it is trying ti fire off, check your cam sensor...

    Vacuum line and TPS

It has been a while since I have done much with my car (saving for another car for wife instead) but it is best if you set the TPS with the car in park. From what I remember, set idle to .42 to .46 volts. Shoot for 4.66 at wide open throttle. You can do this with a multimeter but scanmaster, OTC...

    Timing chain slop

Courious Want to hear the comments/recommendations on this one. Thinking loose timing chain is causing false knock issues.

    Car Will Not Start

Make sure the cam sensor is tight and not rotating on you. Had a similar situation happen to me when I replaced the wiring harness. Went to back the car off the ramps and got nothing. Thought I had done something wrong with the harness. So after checking every wiring connection over and over...

Car died while driving now won't start.

About how much is the RJC kit and how does it work? In my case, the top rotor piece was loose causing it it stay in place most of the time but when it jumped out... made the car back fire violently. Interested in the kit because after the problem was found and fixed, struggling to keep the...

    Car Will Not Start

Possibilities If engine almost starts and possibly backfires, make sure the cam sensor is snug. Also take the cap off to make sure the screw for hall effect piece is tight (might need red Loctite). If the engine starts to fire and then dies or takes extra-ordinary throttle manuvers to keep...

AC cut off going up hill, normal?

There's a 3 leg one way check valve behind the coil pack. When it goes bad and it will, vacuum booster will loose its' vacuum under boost. With vacuum lost, unseen bypass doors close and keep air from coming out of the vents. Replace the check valve that is available in the help sections of...

    is my steering column repairable?

It Can Be Fixed It's been a while so will need someone to jump in with details but yes it can be fixed. What has happened is that the four relatively small screws that support the steering wheel column have work themselves loose. Screws need to be removed, coated with red locktite and...

    trans plus ignition problems

Translator Chip I did have a Translator chip go bad one time but it took several years to do so. Only had problems when ignition splice was connected through the Translator. Had extreme misfire and knock retard that disappeared when Translator ignition splice was bypassed. Check by Ramchargers...

    Replacing Fuel Injector Harness

Found two fuel injector harness options. One is an exact stock replacement while the other is an upgraded 14 gage version advertised as a race/low ohm version. I have low ohm 55's but have not heard about any problems with stock harness and low ohm injectors combination. Is the 14 gage version...

    Who is logging their EGT?

Probe in picture looks just like mine. If so, it's a "K" type Computech Systems, Inc. (301-870-8383) Clamp-On Themocouple (item 4015). Still works as good as the day I got it. Bought in 1997 so hopefully the phone number is still good. Richard

    Car not running right(long)

Without basic information like IAC, MAF and O2 numbers, it is difficult to offer meaningful help but you sound desperate. Let's focus on what is common or what can be checked visually. You mention that after sitting over night or after work that car sounds like it is not running on all...
