Hi trans temp - maybe found problem??

My previous post gives details of the problem and car info... http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/transmission-talk/353682-help-trans-temps.html In short, trans temp rises to 210*+ on hwy. I may have found the problem, please tell me if this sounds likely to be the case. I thought...

    Help with trans temps!!

Still runs HOT on hwy! So I bypassed rad cooler using just ext cooler. Pretty much same results. Below 180* around town, 210*+ on the hwy 65-70mph in 4th, tried with conv locked and unlocked. When I had this trans in a few years ago I could cruise 80-90mph and avg 180* maybe 185*. I...

    Help with trans temps!!

I'm having a hard time with driving long distance on the hwy with trans temp at 210*+. My trip was supposedto be 100 miles each way, after about 60 miles (45min's-1hr) I'd be going up in the mountains to about 8000ft (1-1 1/2hrs climbing avg35-50mph). I don't like the idea of putting the...

    2-3 upshift issue

I'm getting a bang or clunk (from intermediate servo?) when trans shift to 3rd at light to med throttle. More than 50% throttle shifts are firm, no clunk sound (lighter throttle/harder clunk). 1-2 & 3-4 are clean shifts. Where would be the best place to start/change to rid the clunk...

    Air checking center support/direct drum

I assembled direct drum, installed on center support using teflon seal rings, center ring left out to dual feed. When air checking #2 plugging #7 and vice versa, clutches engage, no air out if #6. Is it normal to have air escaping between center support and drum (lower seal)? Thanks...

    Lo/reverse housing w/torrington brg

I appreciate your help! Ok so, I assembled the rear section on the bench. I can fit a .005" feeler guage snugly between washer and clip. I can fit up to a .010" feeler guage if I kinda force it but I don't think that's acurrate. Am I right to think it should be snug not forced? I...

    Lo/reverse housing w/torrington brg

How much material do I need to machine off lo/reverse housing to add bearing in place of thrust washer? I measured the thickness difference of the washer (.063") and the torrington bearing (.143") to be .080". Does that sound right, machine .080" off the housing...

    Need KC valve body

Anyone have a used one for sale? I've got a BQ (84 regal) trans I'm going through. Valve body cracked at 4th gear switch, probably could repair. I figured easier to replace, want to use a KC valve body. Also, can I use original governor or is there a governor I should use with KC VB to...

Chris. . . Still need D5 converter cores?

I've got a D5 and a TH350 converter as well. A while back you were sending tags to ship back to you? Both are yours if you want them. Email lindsayzoo@dslextreme.com _______________________ Jim

    Input drum thrust washer?

The bearing should replace the black plastic washer. Also, the bearing is usually thicker than the washer so material needs to be removed from one or both components to compensate for the difference. ____________________________ Jim
