How much material do I need to machine off lo/reverse housing to add bearing in place of thrust washer?

I measured the thickness difference of the washer (.063") and the torrington bearing (.143") to be .080". Does that
sound right, machine .080" off the housing?

Assemble your output on the bench out of the case with the factory washer and measure the end play between the snap ring and selective washer with feeler gauges then use that clearance as a guide to cut the low reverse support. Most likely you will be cutting less than the difference between the factory thrust washer and the roller bearing.

I appreciate your help!

Ok so, I assembled the rear section on the bench. I can fit a .005" feeler guage snugly between washer and clip. I can fit up to a .010" feeler guage if I kinda force it but I don't think that's acurrate.

Am I right to think it should be snug not forced?

I don't want to sound amatuer here  (opps, too late), this is my 2nd build after a few years and using CK's book to guide.
