It sounds like to me that sombody is ripping you off. There is no way the valve can be installed upside down or backwards unless you use a ball peen hammer then you will have some extra parts left over that might be in little pieces. You may want to check your valve springs to see if they have gone soft. If they are soft then you will have a floating valve this will knock the hard outer coating on the cam. once that is gone the softer metal in the cam will wear quickly. I had this problem when I got my car. IF you have a cam...
