    Did you try pull the cable out a couple clicks at a time? Sounds like the cable is too far rearward. from where it is at right now, push on the button on top of the cable and pull the inner sleeve forward about 2-3 clicks an test drive it.

    Very General Question

    The spring may have been slung out of the governor. Without it, it will make the shift points really high and seem like there is no 2nd gear. Doing a burnout and letting of the gas suddenly will make it launch out. Id rather have the gurus answer your question.
