Very General Question

I went to the track farting around the other night. I ran across a friend on an outing with a customer.

From what I was told the car may have had some issues running on the street. Well, to make a long story short, one smokey burnout, one launch and the tranny locked. Looked as though he had first and reverse only. What may have caused this, yea, I know I'm really over simplifing, I'm just curious???

The spring may have been slung out of the governor. Without it, it will make the shift points really high and seem like there is no 2nd gear. Doing a burnout and letting of the gas suddenly will make it launch out.

Id rather have the gurus answer your question.
