Value of Turbo Regal compared to GN?

Hey all, I have just been wondering why the GN is typically more valuable than the more rare Turbo Regal? More easily identified? I have just been wondering because I have been back and forth on if I would sell/trade my Turbo T to get a GN, it seems as if I would have to include cash in the trade. I know condition is everything, but assuming similar mileage, condition, etc. Not trying to start a war between the turbo regal and GN guys :D Any and all input is appreciated!

Thanks, Kelly

I think the gns became popular because of the all black.paint. when people see a T they just think.regal. id love to get a bench column shifted t chrome packagevof course

Yeah, I like the sleeperish attitude of the T, but I just can't get over the looks of the GN.

While I'm at it, any idea on if it would be worth finishing my build, or just trying to trade as is for a GN plush cash? Not sure if any of you guys are able to get much of a return on investment with these or not? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just testing the waters and trying to learn differences in desirability

Stick with the T. Personally I like them cause they are different. Colors, interiors, hell you could have a v-8 T. They could have had aluminum bumper supports and brake drums, so technically are faster than GN's because of being lighter. They're probably cheaper to insure because they're usually just classified as regals. Plus you don't get the "Nice Monte" as often.

The average Joe doesn't know a wolf in sheep's clothing. The GN was the mainstay of the TR campaign. It has a slightly higher value partially because all of the ass whooping on YouTube is with a black car :)

"They're probably cheaper to insure because they're usually just classified as regals."
Not really. As soon as the ins co sees the turbo engine designation in the VIN, it's no longer "just a Regal".

Your right Chuck. I gotta say I am getting really tired of hearing about "cheap insurance". If you have cheap insurance...you get cheap coverage.
I wanna hear from a member who had an "Agreed Value Policy" without a proper appraisal, that actually collected on a totaled car. I've been playing this car collector/ hobbiest game for over 25 years and I have never talked to anyone, with any type of car, that didn't go thru hell trying to get a fair amount when claim time was at hand. Agreed Value policy just means that you have agreed to get screwed if you ever need a claim.
Any of you members that have $12,000 or more invested in your car...pay a neutral source to do a Certified Appraisal. Then you are covered...once your insurance co agrees to that value.
A good appraiser will cost $150-350 depending on travel and other expenses. If travel is involved...try to get a group of guys and split the fee for logging and fuel.
Don't just search for the cheapest insurance...it just leads to nightmares.

If youre looking for cheap anything get out of the car hobby especially if its with insurance. Its like trying to find a cheap helmut. Lol

The general public just doesn't know as much about T's. On this site I don't think one is much more valuable then the other. I laugh all the time when people down talk my T-type. Some lines include, "well it will never be as valuable as a GN", "So it's like a GN clone then?", "They didn't have the power the GN had". Stuff like that is what helps drive down the value. But people who are educated about the cars don't really hold the GN on a higher pedestal.

:D Yeah, I figured as much, not as much publicity as the GN, but like you said, they can be nice sleepers

Chuck, Coach, and Pyshco...I agree, I won't take any shortcuts with the insurance, thanks for the good advice

 Some people...they must be crazy because your car looks pretty mean...next time ask them if the taillights look like a GN because they'll be getting a good view of 'em ;)

Well you know opinions are like an A$$ holes, we all have one and here is mine. I've been around Turbo Buicks for over 28 years. I also buy them, make them road worthy and sell them as a hobby to support my cars and turbo addiction. You can look at it in two different ways. If the car is a keeper for life then it doesn't matter if it's a Turbo Regal or a GN. You just get or keep what you like and be done. As a business, I may sell 7 GNs before I can sell a turbo Regal. The main reason for that is; most the first time buyers want a GN from all the allure. The talk on the street it a National did this or National did that. They never say a T type or a Turbo regal. Once someone gets educated in the Turbo Buick realm then it will change otherwise every conversation starts with GN this and GN that.

I also get more money out a GN vs. T types. There are always exceptions to the rules. Turbo Regals are rare and unique and some people will pay good money for it. Once you get over the loosely used term of GN or National that people use for all the Turbo Buicks and come to a conclusion the fact that they are the same, it's much easier to make your decision. As for business from my experience GNs will sell faster and bring in more money from the public. If it's a collector then he may pay more for something unique if it's a must have.

Just my $.o2
