So...who own(ed) that GN?

This is just a way for a corrupt county to extort big money! He will get his car back but it's going to cost BIG $$$. The stall job that is going on now is the prosecuter hooking up his buddy at the tow yard to the tune of 20 dollars a day storage. It's going to take a minimum of 2 months before this is settled. Even if he is found not guilty for drag racing like I was, the seizure deal is totally separate they WILL get their money before the car is released.

In Toronto, we have a 50 over rule. 5okm over the speed limit you lose your car. Initially this was geared for street racers. Surprisingly enough they didn't catch very many, if any at all. So it turned into a huge cash grab to nail people driving 50 over (its called stunting). Lose your ride, get a $2000 to $5000 fine and it jacks your insurance up to 10k a year.
I'm not gonna condemned ya for street racing. Been there, done that, and fortunately I have not been clipped during my many younger years of doing so. I feel for ya man. Hope it turns out in your best interest in the end. Wrong or not, that's a huge price to pay. No one should have the right to take anything from you that you paid for. I don't buy into that shit. Its all about money. Give a steep fine and a harsh warning to a first offender. 2nd time............. lose your drivers licence for a couple months and a even steeper fine. 3rd time............... Lose your right to drive...Ever!! with yet again a steeper fine.

The messed up thing is how misconstrued everything has become... epworth may be a side street but it's not a typical side street there's Prolly 4 or 5 houses on one side of that street that aren't burned down or abandoned the other side is an empty field and theres no intersecting sIde street tIll after you slow downl...the area shown on tv where all the cars park the part where the racing was done is 5 maybe even 6 lanes wide....

The whole reason they even picked that area is because warren and Livernois at the white castle the race spot that had been used since the 60s was attracting all the wrong crowd it looked like a rap video gone bad ... all the people that were actually racing left and migrated to epworth.....this was spoken to me by someone who races that lives there.....

I never thought in my life that little incident would receive this much attention.... A lady got killed 8 or so years ago.by an actual race (a 9 second mustang that lost control) and it didn't get this much publicity with the exception of one guy being on America's most wanted.....there's been times when there's 300 or more cars out at the races week after week all summer long...I'm talkin 10-15 years ago till now they've never seized cars like this that I've ever heard of....and to do it on the same weekend that the biggest car cruise in the country is happening is just low down and rotten....

It's crazy pic after pic of my car posted everywhere I've gotten prolly 20 calls since this aired on the news.... If I have to try to get it back in an auction everyone and their Dang brother gonna be there bidding on it....it's not just a car to me the guy I got it from was a frIend and is dead now and a lot of things strangely fell into place when I bought it.....and I'm a regular dude I'm not some deep pocket doughboy that bets $5000 on a race... shIt the most I ever bet at the track was $50..... I'm gonna goto court and see what happens......

Hmmmm Makes you kind of wonder if they picked that particular weekend knowing that the "Big Detroit Cruise Event" was happening. And maybe they figured some people would drag and they would be able to seize some nice cars for revenue.

I mean by the sounds of things, those street races have been going on for some time now, coincidence they decide to drop the hammer now.

Detroit Cruise Event + Adrenaline Following + Muscle Cars + Street Racing + Law = BIG CASH COW

Pretty sad that they punish you harder for street racing than they do for drunk driving.

Less tracks = more street racing, and I'm all for it, only way to get the idiots to realize that closing tracks in a bad move.

Sometimes Street Racing is all we know,

with over zealous tech inspectors that knock you for everything or a track fee that is just rediculous or a sandy track thats like driving down a 1/4 mile of marbles.

sometimes you just have too, and with it comes its risk. Hence the invention of the sleeper. Street Racing is all about winning....... not about being fair, not about being legal........ just winning.

and sometimes.... winning is all that matters.

SRFL....... The BrotherHood.

Prepare yourself for the angry mob and torches. O..wait..you're Frankenstein so you already know about that ;)

So now, if there's a D*ck Head cop that wants your ride, he can pull you over i a secluded area, arrest you for racing even though you weren't and just say the other car got away.
That will be fun fighting in court.

No cop would ever do that, Cops are Way too honest.

All the bystanders and drivers know the risk they are taking when racing so if they are willing to take that risk then they should be able too. Just like wearing your seat belt...it's not hurting anyone else and if you dont want to wear it and take the risk then you should be able too. Just my $0.02

I guess the juxta-position to your statement would be if they (spectators and drivers) are willing to "take that risk" then it should be assumed that they know one part of that risk is seizure and forfiture of vehicles and they shouldn't be surprised or angry when that very thing happens, should they?

I don't agree with seizure and forfiture in any way, shape or form and I've been known to accelerate from a stop or roll rather quickly more than once in days past.

All I know is I'll think about it alot harder now.

Problem is forfeiture ESP PERMANENT was not part of the game until a month ago i can remember when some cops got in trouble for watching and allowing people to race...it used to be one cop showed up after an hour and ran everyone off and they would meet up in another place and the same thing would happen till everyone got tired and went home at 5 am.....The worst thing they did was show up with 10 cops and take everyones licenses and herd everyone to the local cop shop and write a bunch of loitering tickets......

and that didn't do anything to stop it, so they stepped it up a few notches.
