wont shift out of park

ok guys i got in my car last night and tryed to shift the car into gear and it woulnd't bidge. i toook off the handle and tryed but still no movement. any idea on what the problem could be? i had a new shifter cable put in about 10 000 miles ago so any ideas?

Ya sure ya got the key in the "on" position? <LOL> Try jiggling the column (bowl, they call it) just behind the steering wheel, under the dash while working the shifter and see if it unlocks. Sounds like the interlock rod from the column to the shift linkage is hung up...
