Chris is the original owner of this 87 WE4.

It has been street raced with a stock block motor
for several years. It was feared in SJ for along time.

He then upgraded to a Duttweiler 272 Off Center
with some very small 60-1 HIFI turbos. It made
1021hp with those small units. He ran the best of
9.17 @ 149 with more to go before I found him a deal
on his current motor.

The current motor is a championship Duttweiler built
Rieger raced 390ci TT SBC. It made almost 1800hp
at Kenny's shop. Chris has only been out a couple
times with this motor. His best pass so far is 8.51 @ 162.

This car has uses a stock susupension set up by Wolferacecraft.
He has a Motec that he tunes him self.
The tranny is a t-400 by Bruce
He runs 160 injectors and a weldon 2035pump.
He bought a ford 9 inch off of my old race car.
He designed the headers and had them built custom for
his application.

That is all I can think off of the top of my head.
Any questions???

John, is that video with the 272 off-center S2, or with the 390ci SBC?

Check out the current Bonneville record holder. A 300 mph Turbo TA. They use 2 different 6 cylinder motors for different races. Here are some details:

"One is a 274 C.I. motor that makes around 1500 hp and the 257 C.I. motor makes around 1000+ hp. They are both run with a single Innovative Turbo Systems Turbo. We run an intercooler circulated with ice water and dual waste gates. The trans is a Jerico 4 speed. "

Oh yeah, they had to add 1500 lbs of lead weights to the car to keep it on the ground.

The video of the car is with the 390ci TT SBC.
The stage 2 was dynoed at duttweiler's but never in the car.

The TT Monte had all the right safety equipment in place including the hardened steel transmission shield and flywheel shield.

no hard feelings man, just not my cup of tea. you have an awesome machine, i'm just one that believes that the GN's should have LC2's in them. Turbo T's and T-types are a different story. It's your car though.

I have two other 87 turbo Regals so I'm not sweating it.

Oh, cool :) Chris, I hope you don't mind if I throw a few questions at you:

- Are those still the 60-1 turbos?

- How streetable (if at all) is the car?

- Do you find any traction at any speed from a roll?

- Do you plan on building the suspension to handle the power?

- Do you have any engine bay pics?

- Are you coming to Florida any time soon, and can I get a ride? :D

Awesome, awesome project dude. :)

I will try and answer for chris.

Oh, cool Chris, I hope you don't mind if I throw a few questions at you:

- How streetable (if at all) is the car?

It is driven on the street. I does not have power anything
and the .700 plus plus plus lift cam and 5500 stall make it a little touchy. It is something you could cruise if you stepped down the voltage to the weldom fuel pump. I would not drive a $50,000 motor more than a little though.

- Do you find any traction at any speed from a roll?

I would have to say no on this one.

- Do you plan on building the suspension to handle the power?

We are working on the suspension now. We hope with a couple
tweaks to get the car more consistant and of course faster.
We do not want to put a whole lot of money in this chassis.
Chris would like a full tube chassis or a fire wall back 25.1D car in the future.

- Do you have any engine bay pics?

I will find a couple for you.

Chris was at Orlando's World Street Nationals last year. He did not bring his car.

Awesome, awesome project dude.

It is pretty cool. I used to help him tune the car on the local freeway. Imagine this... Holding a lap top on your lap and looking at the EGT while excellerating from 50 to 160 in a couple seconds.
It was hard to keep my lunch. This is back when it was going 9.17 @ 150. I have not run in the car with the v-8. To be honest I am a little intimidated.

Thanks for the response! That car is damn near worth comming out to California to see in person. :)

Oh, and what size turbo's are those?

No Problem, those turbos are Turbonetics T-76 Ball Bearing with q Trim and 4 inch exhaust.

He should be running in the PSCA this weeekend at Sacramento.

I dont care if its a GN with a V8 because 99.999% of the people on this board dont make that kind of power:eek: All i can say after reading what some people say about your car on this board and others is..... Big deal if its a GN  Our cars are just a Regal anyways and its all good:cool:

The power windows, door locks still operate.

All interior lights and original factory fuse box and headlights still work.

The concert sound speakers and original EQ tape deck still operate!

The rear window defogger still works...needed for those late night excursions.

I think what my crew chief JohnW meant to say is that it doesn't have power brakes and power steering.

That is one of the main reason I'm planning to eventually put in a Halon system. $500 is cheap insurance not only for your car but also for yourself!
