I did buy a used 200-4R and I know I need to upgrade it. I've been doing quite a bit of reading and it seems there are a handful of reputable guys / companies I can buy kits or even entire transmissions from. If I do decide to buy an entire transmission, who do you recommend? They all sound good, but have varying prices and power ratings.

CK Performance?
Bowtie Overdrives?
Jake's Performance?
The "Real" Art Carr out in Cali?
Performance Transmissions and Parts?

Build: 72 Chevelle, 400 sbc (~375-400 HP, ~400-450 TQ, ~9.4:1 compression), 200-4R, 2400 stall, 3.73 posi.

I've read enough horror stories about Monster to exclude them from the list.

I'm not looking for horror stories or for people to flame vendors - just recommendations.

I had an extreme automatics in my car in my signature below before I pulled the v6. Had a bunch of 9 second hits on it.

Now I have an EA th400

Jake Shoe is where I'd buy it but he's a fellow Texan and I've been to his house and shop.;)

Lonnie Diers @ Extreme Automatics gets my vote too.
However, you can't go wrong with CK, Jimmy's & David Husek either.

lonnie!!

I just installed mine yesterday from EA [Lonnie].

I will put some hard miles on it gauranteed.

If it doesn't blow up under warranty I know I'll never buy from anyone else.

And if it does blow up, I know he will fix it and make it right from all the feedback I've read here on the board, plus talking to him on the phone.:D

That's why I went with Lonnie, unbeatable customer service.:)
Quality of product to be determined by my right foot.

I feel confident that he will be my only trans builder from here on out.

RZ.
