Looks to be a standard 109 block from an 86-87 car to me. And in nice condition! From this angle, I don't see any damage to the bores. Here is a link that could help you even more!

Block Photo Guide

<edit> This looks to be an SG1 block! I believe these were used in the TTAs? They were replacement blocks from GM. They were also sold as crate engines.

got these pics too if they help determine.

Sorry, I edited my post above. The SG1 block was a re manufactured unit from GM. They were also sold as crate motors, and apparently used in the Turbo Trans Am. It is a turbo block, but IIRC any block could be used for a turbo car, it just had to have the right internals (turbo crank and pistons). Those heads are what came on most every 3.8l v6 engine. Even the turbo ones. So yes, those are good heads. Anyone want to step in and make sure I am right? Don't take one mans opinion. I could be wrong or misinformed ;).

Ok, thanks ZNIX, i just wanna make sure before i start putting money into this motor, lol. Im newbie at the Buicks, so im trying to learn as much as i can.

Hey, we were all there at one time! I honestly have learned so much in the past year through this forum. These people are great, and will help you with whatever you need. None of them even mind that I am only 16 and will be driving such a car. More than I can say for other forums where they aren't as accepting to a 16 year old kid with a performance car! Need any help, you can always PM me.

find a plug for the 87 drain hole above the timing cover so no leaks will be present.

hole above and to the left of the timing cover area is for a 86-87 turbo oil drainback.

Those are standard Buick heads that came on the 86 and 87 turbo engines. Valve springs have been replaced. Ported stock iron heads can yield 10s.

Be advised that the deck height on 86-87 blocks was lower than the 84-85 blocks. They will require different pistons.

I think he has all the parts from an 86/7 motor but he wants to run his Hot Air intake on it. It should be completely fine.. Right?

Almost a waste to use that good 109 block/crank on a hot car.

are you considering up-grading to the 86/87 set up?

I'd have to agree. Since the OP has almost all the hard parts needed for an 86/87 setup, I would advise going ahead and making the shift to cold air.

Just needs to come up with the motor's top side, and ECM, MAF and a few odds and ends.

i am gonna go with the 86/87 setup. just had already bought a used intake. so now i gotta find the top half for this motor, pulleys and all the other odds n ends...lot of work ahead of me. ive copied alot of pictures off of here for reference. hopefully it helps. the motor is bored .060 over. dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing. all yall on here have been a big help as im just starting this project...just wanna say thanks. any other advice is truly appreciated
