Were all WE4's equipped with G80's rears?

Hey Guys, I just got this car, but haven't removed it from the original owners house yet, since I've been on travel. Did they all come with the G80 rear, or did some come with the open rears? Like I mentioned, I haven't been able to raise it up and check it out for sure. Thanks

Sorry to hijack the thread, but if you've got a 84 GN with WH2 option (Regal Grand National) , will it have a posi rear if it doesn't say G80 on the RPO sticker?

posi was optional ,if it doesnt show G80 (posi) it wasnt there from the factory

the 84-87 grand national was RPO WE2 (not WH2)

oops, my bad, you're right its WE2.....so does the G80 code apply to the 84's as well, or did WE2 include posi from the factory?

Posi (G80) was an option that was not included in other equipment groups until the extended build at the end of the 87 model year. Either way, if id does not say G80, it did not come from the factory with posi.

My WE4 did not come from the factory with Posi. I had to add it. The rpo sticker doesnt have the g80 code either. I thought I read somewhere that if the car came with aluminum drums from the factory it will not have posi from the factory? Mine has aluminum drums still on it. In 87 it was still an option to get posi unless it is a GN, code WE2, then it came standard I think if I read it right a while back. I think I also read that the WE4 didnt come with posi but I am probably wrong.

Thanks Gents :). I will check the trunk sticker and hopefully it does have the G80 code. Great and prompt information as always :).

starting aug 3 1987 -thru the end of production in december 1987 all GNs (WE2) built during that time recieved the G80 as required option (you still paid for it in the revised price)

proir to that the only way any regal got a posi was to specify it on the order sheet as it wasnt standard or part of a option group.

G80 Rear Ends & the WE4

Well guys I will make this real simple the only car which came standard from the factory with Posi-i-traction "G80" option was the 1987 Buick GN ONLY all the rest of the Turbo car you had to order it at a $100.00 add on.

You can take that fact to the bank.

Steve Hurst, President-BGNRA

PS: I order my WE4 brand new on 2/19/1987 and receive it on May 29, 1987 and yes I had to order G80

I always thought the Grand National was a Regal option package itself? WE2.

Regal cars didn't come standard from the factory with posi. ;)

Perhaps saying the only optional package giving you posi. was the 1987 GN would be more appropriate. :)

I'll save the Baretta lines for Blake since he's a free man now.

G80 is a code still used by GM I believe.
