I have 86 turbo the third gear seam soft when shifting into 3 . Ive had it parked for a while when I moved it I heard the mild swishing noise . when I hammer down on car the boost and rpms shoot up but car not hardly moven . Now should I have trans rebuilt or put in new tougue converter ? anyone had this problem before?

Let it warm up, check the fluid level, pull hard and fast on the tv cable, the tv boost valve may be stuck. Stop driving it and hammering on it, it likely won't fix itself. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if it has been slipping as you describe the damage is likely done and I would anticipate a rebuild in your near future, with a new converter or the one you have cleaned and inspected. If it 2-3 flare or slide shift it's most likely done and must be pulled and freshened. You can try the fluid level and but 9 times outta 10 once it's flared the direct clutches are done
