Purchased a 9" converter a while back hoping to improve 1/4 mile times. Wanted about a 3200 stall. I got it and the performance improved slightly but was not what I was hoping for. Ended up installing a transbrake to help spool up on the line. What I found was that I could only brake the motor to 2500rpm and about 5 psi. So I sent the converter back in to get re-stalled. It is certainly looser now... a little too loose. First time on the brake it flashed up to about 5200 rpm before I let off the throttle. The manufacturer asks me how much torque it's making but I don't have any idea. There is a chassis dyno about an hour from me, but with the converter this loose I cant imagine I would get accurate results unless I locked the converter. Would this hurt the converter? I'm getting tired of yanking my tranny out but I want to be able to launch at around 2800 to 3000 rpm. Any advise???
