Starter install issue

After installing my faulty jw flex plate that needed to grind out a couple mounting holes I went to install my power master starter. Trouble is I don't have 1/16th or more distance away from the flexplate it's actually overlapping. I have the flexplate installed with the flat side towards transmission and ring gear towards engine. Can it be reversed? I think I could unbolt the starter from the mounting block and use washers to space it out. It's a clockable starter.

Any suggestions?

That's not the direction I need my gear is overlapping the teeth when the starter is in its retracted position. I'll post pics later.

It also looks like I need to grind a little on my starter

I've tried those square block (as I call them) starters. They never seem to fit the block properly. Ended up getting an LT4 starter and love it.

Is that a universal starter I think you can take that plate off and flip it to the other side.to mesh the gear better.
