Speedometer question

I just picked up an 87' GN that the original owner modified with the 145 mph speedo kit. I'd prefer the stock look. I'm assuming that the 'kit' just includes a different gear for the tranny and some kind of plate or decal for the speedo head. Is that correct? Has anyone ever tried to remove the decal/plate after it's been on for a while? I'm afraid it will pull all of the original paint off the speedo head. Any suggestions? Thanks

If you crawl under the car, you should see a speedometer box that slows down the cable to make it work with the aftermarket 145mph setup.
Delete the box, install a regular regal overlay behind the speedo cable and should be fine...
Of course the mileage wont be anywhere near what it should have been, im too lazy to look up the percentage of loss thru the box.
