I'm not tryin to scare anyone but, please remember that if U get pulled over by me in while I'm working, Its only to verify the VIN and to make sure your not driving a stolen GN. Oh yeah, I stop EVERY GN that I see. But the thing I hate is after the car checks out and I give the O.K. for the driver to lay into it, they always seem intimidated and throttle shy? I cant understand it. The last guy I stopped had a pretty clean 87 with one of those University of Illinois plates(u know who u are ;) ) and after a brief conversation and the strong aroma of racing fuel, he admitted the car was an 11.80 car. So I asked him to show me how an 11 sec car leaves, expecting the rear bumper to drag the ground, but instead he pulls away at about 1/2 throttle. Cmon guys throw me a bone , I have to drive around in a Ford Crown Vic all day, :( . Oh yeah but the way, if ur drivin a stolen GN---U will be goin to the County to meet your new boyfriends!!!

If I make a trip to Chicago, will you write me a FAKE ticket for like 140 in 35???? I promise I will paint the highway after you let me go! A good friend of mine is a county deputy and we had some fun with his radar gun and my car awile back....I mean...that never happened :D

I don't live in Chicago but could you send me one of those stickers that I put in my window, so when I get pulled over I don't get a ticket. You know what I'm talkin about. The one that says I'm a friend or a relative. Thanx :D

lame

Jeez'lighten up pal,at least he's tryin. Also, read his sig cut with a ta 63? he already has one.Buford T. Justice, you're alright in my book.I usually just get STEPED ON by the MAN.

Someone needs to lighten up. Rabbit, I work in a town that has a lot of drugs and I pulled this one guy over with some 20"s and arrested him for PCS. He doesn't have the 20s anymore and he kept the GN in horrible condition anyway. There are a bunch of guys that live in my town that have em. I've seen some other guys drive thru to get to Brookfield, these were real nice cars.

Running the plate might not be enough, plates can be switched. And I'm sure Turbo Buick guys don't usually mind being pulled over to talk about their cars, they're very proud of them.
My dad's friend recently had his GN stolen from the local dragstrip. It's good to know that police officers like you are keeping a lookout. :)

One could definitely raise issues with this one, but I have to say it would be totally cool to get permission from an officer to do a good burnout!

Rabbit - maybe part of the reason they won't really hit it hard is because they don't really trust you and they think you are trying to bait them so you can write them a reckless driving ticket. Maybe you need to do a better job convincing them that you are for real. :)

Geez relax, the guys probably only pulling over one GN a week around here tops. And its not like they do not get stolen in and around Chicago. I lost one a few years ago to a GN ring on the West Side and they took it from Buffalo Grove all the way down to the city, about 25 miles away.

I applaud your efforts Brer as if people only knew the amount of GN's this ring rips off a year they would be pissed off and wish they would get caught while driving one instead of getting busted while leaving the alley the stolen cars in carting around its parts in their vehicle.

I

Whats wrong with a TR mill in a CUTTY?Mabey its not a sh8tbox.He may be a little misguided, checking tags may probably be a better aproach, but what ever.

I've known/seen guys get pulled over in GN's without doing anything illegal in Chicago and the burbs. Checking out if the car is legit, is usually the rationale. I don't see what the big deal is, and as long as you're not driving like an idiot, the police are usually pretty cool.

Besides, who doesn't want to see a TR thief get what they deserve

I still don't think most guys are going to light up their tires in front of a cruiser though

Pete

I had A modded 86 drivetrain in an 85 cutlass and it was a rat too, two tone brown/tan mix, ugly as hell, but no one would mess with it! Probably because they couldnt figure out why it sounded like it did. Yeah, I would be a little hesitant about "launching my T in front of a cop too, not very smart if you ask me. I'll remember that any time i am in and around chitown though!

Back in the day when I was in college, we had a HUGE party one night and the law showed up, just to tell us to keep it down. Anyway, I got to talking to the cop that was driving and talked him into doing a nice burn out in the Caprice when he left. He LIT them up up leaving, what a cool guy! Rabbit-just tell the driver that if he DOESN'T do a nice burnout, you'll give him a ticket.

What area,,I think you talked to my dad --White Limited ,old guy 63yrs....slow car..
Oh yeah,,what if my plate sticker is expired???

too funny

I think the fact that an officer is checking these cars out to make sure its legit and not stolen is a good thing IMHO

There's legend of a cop in the area that would go up to people, and offer to let em out of the ticket if they could be him out of town, but if he won they'd either get a bigger ticket or go to jail. People may complain about him pulling em over indiscriminately until their car is stolen, if it were your car that he discovered and prevented from getting stripped you'd probably be glad he did it.

thanx for the supportguys , sorry Scot W

Hey scot ur a lil too wound up brother! If ur the police and u take everything so serious your right on ur way to a heart attack or stroke from the stress of this job. Anyone who has handled a typical west side Domestic with the babies daddy tryin to fight can appreciate a lil fun during a tour of duty. I'm sorry if u didnt realize the only reason I wrote that post was to let the turbo guys know that someone out there is lookin out for them. oh yeah and one more thing, "no probable cause" my *ss, you know as well as I do that you would stop a car because u "think" something might be wrong. If u really wouldnt then u need to start doin it because ur missing a boat load of good arrests. We also have a term for guys that tell on an other Officer-----RAT, I hope thats not what u are, because RATS dont get assist cars when ur fightin and gettin ur *ss handed to u.

Band aid

Band Aid that was me on Irving racing with ur dad ;) just dont tell scot w., he might try to report me to IAD. I work further south from the area me and ur pops had the fun. By the way since u seem to have a bunch of these cars I am lookin for burgundy buckets. If u have any for sale please let me know.

Whoa, lets all calm down, everyone... I can see that sort of thing happening where I used to live, a murder made fromt page news in huge type-font for over three days. Big city? I doubt cops could get away with it. Hawaii? Dunno, it'd be hard to hide a car like ours for very long, but it would be gutted by the time it was recovered. THAT happens a lot, but mostly to imports.
