scanmaster readings?

I just bought this scanmaster and it came with a plug and play plug so you can plug it into the cigarette lighter and I tried it out and the mph is off, saying I'm going hindered when I was going like 10 and the rpms we'rent reading anything or the battery or airflow. And I'm trying to reset the IAC so I can fix my idle.

You have an '85 car? Do you have the stock ECM in it? If so, a Scanmaster won't work with the 84/85 cars.

If I was converting to 86-87 ecm, will I need anything else?

I think for starters you will need

1. 86/87 ECM (#1227148)
2. 86/87 GN chip
3. 86/87 MAF sensor (LT1 or LS1)
4. MAF translator

I'm not sure if you have to upgrade the coil pack at that time but it's not a bad idea.

I have a translator and lt1 maf in it already so I guess just the ecm and chip?

The coil and module do not need to be changed but as stated above, it would be recommended.
