Running crappy, 5 cylinders?

Hey guys, I have my 86 gn i just got a new motor in and now it is running really odd. It doesnt want to idle and dies when the gas is lifted when stopping at a light. I also notice a small bumbling backfire noise occasionally. It is hard to start when it dies and needs a little assistance on the gas pedal and I have even seen a small puff of black smoke coming from under the hood during these stressful starting situations. It seems to me that it is ignition related but where do you think I should focus? The coilpack is not old by any means and the spark plug wires were new last summer with not many miles on them. Let me know what you guys think, I gotta get this thing runnin!

can somebody shoot the link to how to dial in the sensor and troubleshoot this problem? im lost without the search feature on gnttype
