Removing 3rd and 4th gear switches

Why would a trans builder do this in a 2004R? Interfere with a transbrake? Connector is there where you plug in the harness but there are no wires connected to the plug on the inside. Can it be added back?

If the car has an aftermarket ecu the switches don't really need to be there. I've removed them in my cars and plugged the hole in the case where the connector is. You can add in the switched and the two wires if needed. You'd need a 4 pin connector to run both if you don't already have one
