plastic in oil?

ok well i was chasing down an oil leak (pan or rear main) after i removed the oil pan i saw what i thought was chunks of metal and turns out to be chunks of hard plastic brown or probably stained brown no im realy no mechanic so here i am any ideas on what it is

ive never removed the timing chain cover is this the only plastic part that could get in there?

sounds like the nylon teeth from the timing gear.

I had a regular ol' '81 Regal with the 3.8 and lost all oil pressure due to a nylon piece of the teeth getting caught in the bypass of the oil pump.

Good answer!!
On the one I spoke of earlier, I just took the oil pump off (easy) cleared it out and wa-la!! It was a beater I bought for $100. Had a 2"x10" piece of wood for a rear bumper and the back half of the car jumped off the frame everytime I went over a bump!!!
