I want to replace the old PCV valve grommet. Has anyone done this job and how hard is it. I know the grommet in probably dry will not come out in one piece. If the rubber piece falls into the intake how do you get them out or is it necessary. Thanks.

I have done it in the car, make sure it's warm and you will have better luck getting it out in one piece. I used a long set of curved needle nose pliers that have a half inch diameter circular jaw nose. I don't know what they are called? Picked them up at a swap meet thought they would come in handy and they worked great for PCV install and grommet removal. I warmed the new grommet up in hot water and put some wd40 on it, it went in easier than expected. I think I just used a long punch and screwdriver to put it in.
