OK so I found a 85 t type in the woods belongs to a old man and I'm thinking about buying it. Has the original drive train and as I can see og miles. Checked the engine for water and looks good The body was in a wreck as you guys can see and the interior is coming apart do to it having a sunroof leak. With the pictures I've provided how much do you guys think I should honestly pay for it. He hasn't given me a set price set said he was going to do some research and to go back monday....

I would forget where he lives and run as fast as you can. It's worth nothing.

I sure hope you don't think that odometer has never rolled over...

Looks like it could be a solid southern car, and might clean up better than anyone will currently give it credit for, but it's going to be a money pit. If you want to restore it for the love of the car then do it, but even if he gave you the car, you'll be upside down in it financially and you need to be aware of that from the get go.

If I found it in the woods I wouldn't pay more than $1k for it. Any more than $2k and you're an idiot.

Figure you will spend 5K on body and paint. 2K on the interior.
With some luck you could get the motor to run. If not, 2K on rebuilding that. Another 2K on trans if it's needed.
New tires will cost you $750 just depends on what you get. So low of $7K, a high of $12K.

And that is with you doing the work.

Send that one to the crusher.. don't even attempt to buy this.. too many you can buy on here, in fact if your looking for that year model there's an 85 for sale today on this board for 6grand, just look at the cars for sale ad in this section

Buy it and part it out maybe.

The one I bought needed a lot of work, patching the tips of the doors and quarters. Needed full paint, just a lot of work I couldn't imagine doing a full quarter panel.

I did everything myself and I'm not done yet, but paint supplies add up, I don't even want to know what I spent so far.

I was planning on trying to get it and just use the engine and Trans and make a clone on another regal she'll

Add up what you think the good parts that you could sell off the car are worth. Offer half of that total and if he accepts you should not get hurt. If he wants more I would thank him for his time and move on. Good luck.

That car made it to the center of the earth and back. Old man drove the wheels off of that thing.:cat:

I think you should ask him "how much will he pay you to haul it off to get rid of it".

But seriously that thing is not worth anything don't waste your time and any money on it.

Rear end, trans, engine, looks like a decent interior. I roll in it. Clean it get it up and running. And drive it. You won't believe the offers you will get to buy it.

No more than $500... It's worth that in parts.
Best case scenario, you pay $500, get the engine running, slap some cheap tires on it and drive it as is. (no one will want to steal it in that condition)
If you love it, you can dump your life savings into it and restore it. (It will never be worth anything but most of us here are upside down in our cars as well so it doesn't matter)
If you hate it, you can mod it or part it. (If you part it, it should net you back your $500 investment- I think you'd get around $300 at the crusher)

I don't think it deserves the scrapyard, not yet anyway.

The reason I advise to run. Is the leaky sunroof. That equals rusted floor pans.
