i plan on installing 22 inch rear rims which with tires measure 28 inches tall.
was thinking of installing 373 gears.

and the question is???
with the taller tire, you will get less revs per mile- which slows the speedo down compared to reality.
but with the deeper gears, you get more driveshaft rpms pere mile- which speeds the speedo up.
according to this page it looks like your speedo will stay correct when it's all said and done without changing anything.

Because no car is "pimp" without a set of "never made for the car-oversized John Deere tractor chromed out wheels" right?

To the OP, need more info on your car....yes with a larger diameter wheel/tire you usually need to lower the gear ratio for the car to not feel like a slug. Depending on your engine and how it's built....does it have a big cam? Converter size? And what trans are you running? Do you want it at cruising speeds? Or do you want to be taching 3k rpms at 60 mph?

Sorry, most of us turbo guys don't care for Conestoga rims on our cars. Might want to go onto a 4X4 truck site and ask them, just don't tell them you're trying to put big donk rims on your car.

That was straight to the point. I like it.

Wow, he's allowed to ask a question here isnt he? Who cares what your opinion is about his rims:rolleyes:

THAT'S RIGHT ! how dare you people question 22 inch wheels on Turbo Buick
I think I want a set myself ........ but mine would have to be...GOLD also ;) ........sorry but I could not resist ,back to the question ,what you going to have in front ?and if the overall size is still 28" why you feel you have to go to 3.73 ?

Hey, I've got a set of Rock Sliderz if you need them to protect your car while rock crawling. Seen them on a local car runnig 28s on his. You just cant turn while driving.

At 28" in diameter, That is equivalent to the diameter of a 275-60-15. Many, many board members are running that size tire on the back of their cars.

I don't know the answer to your question, but maybe this little tidbit will help in your search.....

To each his own. The only real reason that I can see to not running the big wheel diameters is that they tend to be ungodly heavy! A brake upgrade is a MUST with them.

Just the title to this thread is enough to make it end up in the political forum.

This is gonna be good.

you smart azz hill billies need to stop watching tv and realize that every car with 22 inch rims is not a so called donk,so if you cant contribute anything,
keep your comments to your shelf ,87regal3.8sfi can i put 24's on a john
deer and can you hook me up with a tractor maybe the one you call a buick.

on a serious note i am going for that pro touring look,i know the the
22x9.5 rim with a 255/30/22 tire measures 28 inches tall and the 215/65/15
tire measures 26 inches tall,so i was considing a gear change but kash told
me to leave the gears along i will be running 20x8.5 with 245/35/20's on the front.

yankee john

what do you think about the coys c5 rim this is the wheels i want to use with the black centers.

Please post pics when you get the wheels. I'm as open minded as they get but I believe this will look like a real life hot wheels car :D Beautiful wheels though

Theres a member here running American Racing Torq Thrust's with black centers. It's a white T and the wheels have black centers. They're 20's and I think they look perfect.

The wheels should look good. Yankee John is right about the brake upgrade and the fact that many members are running 28" tires. Just remember to put the proper sized tire/rim combo on for traction if you are ever to race someone.....so that you don't get embarrassed off the line and end up with a bunch of tire smoke. Other than that, post up some pics when you get done with it.............."you smart azz hill billies need to stop watching tv and realize that every car with 22 inch rims is not a so called donk"............that was funny!.......I don't think that anyone is meaning to offend you with their statements.....IMO....most TR Owner's are a little older (but can still kick some azz) and more traditionally minded. They/we/me see the TR as a serious, no nonsense, ass kicking, tire shredding, take your money from you, American Muscle Car that should not be put on the cover of (nor star in a show called) Pimp My Ride.

The Pro Touring look is not 22's unless your touring East LA or South Beach. Being serious,22's handle like S%$T, and that is being polite. Pro touring would be a lowered stance with some GNX wheel flares and 20's in the rear and 18's up front. Maybe some cool homemade ground effects.

Just a thought,
Coach

i have had 22 inch rims all around on a cutlass salon and it handled very well, this is my cruiser and i will be keeping the stock t-type rims,to use also, and if some of you guys buy some magazines you will realize people
have move out of the dark ages,my last car with 22's on it got complements from people from all walks of life, you will find that i love to talk bs to the best,
but when it comes down to it we all do what we feel, when i feel the need to blow money i try my luck at the casino not drag race, but for those who dont like big wheels you going to really hate when some puts 24 on their john deer
tractor,me i love creativity even if i dont agree with it.but i being 41 like my cars to look good and still be able to kick some ass.if we all thought the same
this wouldnt be one of the best sites to be a member of.some race, some cruise, some show, some pimp tractors.
